Great weekend of oval racing at the Gate. I ran in the CRC 13.5 rubber tire class. I qualified 2nd but was the fastest car just circumstances put me there. In the main I dogged the TQ for almost 3 and a half minutes at the most 5 feet apart on a 5 second track (185' runline). At that point his car did a snap traction roll on corner exit and I shot buy for a win with a 1 second margin. Spectators thought it was the best race of the weekend with the two of us racing close and weaving thru lapped cars in tandem. Oval rubber tire is an absolute blast.

Well it looks like F1 is staring to catch on down here. Today at 386 3 guys came by and they are all building a CRC F1. Finally I have more CRC's at the track. Up until know there was one guy at the outdoor track and that was it. So I guess I'll have to go back to work on my F1 alittle sooner that I wanted to. also tried an experiment with my new WGT-R kit. I ran it in our GT17.5 foam class. It handled the corners better than my CRC Se chassis. Now it I could get the SE rear pod to mount on the WGT-R chassis It wold be better. there is another rear pod that bolts to the rear of the WGT-R- It's just alittle pricy. Just waiting for some grafite to make a CRC rear pod to bolt on.

Crazy stuff this past weekend. First time running VTA on the black carpet. Car was a pile to start but I kept increasing the spring rate and it got better and better until it was the second fastest. Went home and put on new tires and tested last night with Wayne driving (his was the fastest Saturday) with three test runs he had it nearly equal to his improving the cars fast lap by .4 and a couple of suggestions on how to help it a little more. F1 was really crazy. I was running a protoform 13 body in practice and the first two qualifiers. I could hit 10.8 as a fast lap. Went back to my protoform 14 and dropped to 10.5 with my top 15 at 10.7. I am baffled as to how those bodies could be so different. Wayne saw it and asked what else did I do. I said absolutely nothing else, not even a body post.

Well after this weekend I've had enough fun with the F1 class. They look good but I just drive mine. the car is now all stripped down and for sale. I guess I'll go to the new 1/12th class- GT 1/12th with 21.5 and GT body (PF12).

When a F1 is right they are a very fun car to drive. All I have done to mine in the last few months is move the inline battery forward and back a little. My WGT-R is in the same boat, just moving the battery a little. This weekend is our tracks "Summer Slam". A all rubber tire event with the fastest class being a 17.5 TC. I will run WGT-R, F1 and maybe VTA. We have over 70 pre-entries and hope to top 100. Track is down and it is a challenge. We have a 1/12 spec class that has the following. 21.5 handout motor, spec striped tires (like wgt) with a maximum diameter, fixed gearing, spec battery and a list of bodies that are GT style and the PFM-12 is on that list. The motors are tuned to be as close as possible in performance.

Is there a list of 1/12th GT bodies out there?

Not that I know of but I know the rule writer so I can check with him. He buys them in small quantities and sells them at our track at cost. We have two tracks following the class specs. They are also working on a faster class as a step up.

Summer Slam is in the books. I made the "A" in the three classes I ran. Finished 3rd. behind Brian and Zac Shuttenberg our local CRC team driver in WGT-R. I was 4 seconds behind Dumper in a 6 minute run all weekend. My old age shows up like that. I qualified 7th in VTA and 8th in F1. F1 had the top ten cars making 35 lap runs except for the TQ (Wayne Gerber) who snuck in a 36 (barely). I got a 8th in dual "A" mains in VTA and in F1 I had handling issues and finished 9th. Not a bad weekend considering the talent level that was there. I now need a few days to recover.

Well the Halloween Classic is creating quite a stir. Three classes will be handout fixed timing motors. They add approx. $40 to the entry and a lot of people are upset. I posted on the thread that 15 years ago in the brushed days, we would happily pony up to buy all allowable handouts at a major for $25 ea just to tune (brushes, japping, springs and dynoing) to get the magic motor. I also told them that any motor that they have now won't be the hot one anyway by that time. The new motors that are going through ROAR are another step better, just like last year. If you are going to be fast you will be buying a new one of those for other races so now you don't have to struggle to get one before the HWC.

Well the F1 is still a problem for me, the track owner at 386 wanted to work on it so I gave it to him. He said it should be ready by Wednesday afternoon, when I stop by. If not I'll just retire from this chassis in this class. My GT17.5 tracyion rolled everyone this past weekend. I'm taking off next weekend to just rest and work on things before the new racing season starts. Forgot to mention the outdoor club is racing SC trucks. Got an ASC SC10m and had as good first outing. Experimented with shock springs and tires. Have a new set of tires coming this week. They have some small jumps they put on the road course just for the trucks. Anyway after following most of them for the first 3 rounds I came in first main by 6 seconds.

No Racing for me today-Just took it easy and finished painting two new bodies for the start of the new state series racing season. It felt good and I tried a new method while painting. It worked pretty good. This coming Sunday starts the Race for the birds at 386. everything should be ready.

Great we'l finally met. If you come early enought their is a Budweiser plant on the outside of Jacksonville. After that nothing. Just fininshed all the cars for this weekends big race. I don't think I'll get lucky like last year ( won a free entry to the birds).

I don't drink Bud but thanks for the suggestion. We will be looking for BBQ. My friend that will be sharing the trip and I do our own smoking (meats) and we always look for BBQ joints with great food. I personally also look for craft breweries. We are loaded with them in Ohio (over 200 and counting) and it is quite and adventure.

I don't drink but there is a small independent beer place right by the Jaguars stadium-Intuition Ale. The only BBQ places in Jax is Bono's and Sonnys.

Well after this weekends race I have decided to give up on the GT17.5 class. The car got better and in the main worst. The car did not traction roll until the main. After that I decided I've had enought. Ordered the new 25 from CRC. Going to race in our 21.5 GT12 class.Converted the rear pod back to the WGT-R pod.

There has been a change at our local track from 21.5 GT-12 to Spec 17.5. A new fixed timing handout motor and battery are the change. There is a gear ratio range and tire size maximum. Fixed body list. This link should show you the rules. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10210201079809788&set=a.1012419477095.2001932.1423260854&type=3

We're racing the Fla. version of GT12. It's any 1/12th GT body contrary to the guy that says were are running British rules on bodies.Tom and I are ordering the Delta Maserati's. Another guy has the Greenwood Vette. Got the new 25 chassis coming next week(after the Hurricane). Just want to run something different than the PFM12. Not ordering from overseas.
